El Nino Rapid Response
Using real time JPSS data, STC scientists provided guidance for aircraft flights during a field campaign to study the El Nino phenomenon. The JPSS soundings will also be used to characterize thermodynamic fields in regions that could not be measured with in-situ observations. More |
STC Loon-atics
STC is working with Google on Project Loon, an ambitous effort to provide internet connection to remote areas of the southern hemisphere using a fleet of high-altitude ballons. STC scientists are helping with the trajectory modeling and simultaneously helping to improve weather forecasts! More |
It Really is Rocket Science!
For a guy who did his doctoral dissertation at the University of Michigan on “Interactions between Flight Dynamics and Propulsion Systems of Air-Breathing Hypersonic Vehicles”, it is not surprising that Dr. Derek J. Dalle ended up helping to create NASA’s newest generation of Space Launch Systems. More |
EMCHFSS II Win
STC was awarded the Electronic, Mechanical, Composite Hardware Fabrication Support Services (EMCHFSS) II contract at Langley Research Center (LaRC). This is a five-year contract to provide fabrication support across Center projects, including Orion Crew Capsule tests, wind tunnel modifications, and fabrication of space-qualified hardware. More |
SAS Contract Win
STC is part of the Unisys team awarded the Langley Research Center Simulation, Aircraft Services (SAS) contract. The 5-year contract provides software and hardware services for the Center’s unique national research and development facilities for simulation and flight research. These include the Cockpit Motion Facility, Development and Test Simulator, as well as the research aircraft operated by the Research Services Directorate. More |
Making a SPLASH
NASA has been preparing to go back to deep space with the development of the Orion Crew Module, which has gone through changes since the Constellation Program was cancelled. The Orion Crew Module was essentially retained from that program and STC continues to provide fabrication and engineering support various projects associated with Orion. More |
